I agree with the point you make about having small libraries and tools which can be mixed and matched, rather than large frameworks. Even while using an open source library, I ask myself the question: "Am I going to use at least 80% of this library". I use it only if the answer is 'yes', otherwise I prefer to create a custom solution. Nice post.
